Video Games - How Much Is Too Much?

Friday January 14, 2005
Video and Computer Games are the rage with most kids today. It is perfectly normal for an average child to spend some time on the computer or on a game station playing video games. But is your child spending too much time on games, neglecting homework, friends and you? Recent studies showed that the average game player for the online computer game Everquest spent an overwhelming 20 hours a week on the game. This article from MediaFamily.org on Computer and Video Game Addiction is a must read to know how much is too much.

Nothing wrong with video game playing. At least they’re at home where you know they’re safe and doing something that actually improves several mental functions.

They could be out dealing crack or robbing banks.

Let ‘em play.

The key is finding balance. Video games can teach hand eye coordination and help motor skills in kids. I think they can actually aid a childs physical growth. The key is monitoring a childs screen time and the games they play with.
