The next time you pick up a Bratz Doll for your child, be sure to inspect it carefully for any signs of it not really being a Bratz Doll! According to the DailyNews ,
"Joining the realm of fake purses, imitation watches and pirated compact discs, toys have become a huge commodity for counterfeiters, costing the toy industry millions of dollars in revenue every year."
In addition to the loss of revenue that these fakes cost the toy manufacturers, the general public who buys these toys is also negatively affected. There are no safety standards enforced on these toys, and they may even contain lead based paint or toxic substances that could harm your child.
Toy manufacturers, big and small alike, are affected by these toy rip-off's. It's just that the bigger toy manufacturers have the resources to go after the racketeers. We as consumers can definitely do our bit to fight against these criminal activities. The next time you spot a fake toy, be sure to report it to your local authorities.
