According to a well respected environmental activist Greenpeace, certain toys that were tested were found to contain high levels of toxic chemicals which can potentially damage children's development and health.
Out of the many toys tested, Greenpeace alleges that Mattel's new Fashion Fever Doll has high levels of phthalates, a potentially lethal chemical.
According to Greenpeace,
"Many of the chemicals concerned, including phthalates, alkylphenols, organotins and synthetic musks, can potentially disrupt hormone functions, cause cancers or birth defects, harm reproduction and build up or persist in the environment, food chain and in the fatty tissues in our bodies."
It is very important to be aware of the dangers of these chemicals polluting the environment. And when these toxic chemicals hit so close to home, threatening our own children by being present in toys, it is time to take some action.
