Friday September 2, 2005
The destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi has shocked and saddened everyone. People, volunteers and charitable foundations are doing their part to assist the victims.

Putumayo World Music is well known for the music it brings us from all around the world. In the past ten years, Putumayo World Music has become known primarily for its upbeat and melodic compilations of great international music characterized by the company's motto: “guaranteed to make you feel good!”

According to Putumayo Music, "In light of the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi, Putumayo World Music is donating all of its proceeds from its critically-acclaimed albums New Orleans and Mississippi Blues to relief efforts in the area through the end of the year .

Putumayo World Music has a long history of contributing to charitable efforts in various quarters of the world. The rich musical traditions captured on New Orleans and Mississippi Blues are a testament to the strong character of the people and their unique cultural legacy. The necessity for redevelopment of these regions is imperative to preserve the heritage that has influenced virtually every aspect of our culture and arts - from jazz to rhythm and blues to rock and beyond."

Thank you, Putumayo Music, we applaud the generous gesture and pray for the people who have been so tragically affected by Hurricane Katrina.
