The Best Electronic Toys - The Present and The Future

Electronic toys are very popular and are gaining in popularity every year. All the majoy toy manufacturers like Hasbro, Fisher-Price, Leap Frog, VTech and more have leapt into the electronic toys market. It is no surprise, as electronic toys hold a huge chunk of the toy market share. More and more innovative electronic toys are being released every year, each trying to outdo the other.

Electronic Learning Systems continue to be the trend this year. VTech's V.Smile Pocket Learning System, a portable version of the V.Smile TV Learning System and Leapster's LMax are in the forefront this year. Another popular trend in the electronic toy market is the electronic reading system like PI's Story Reader and Fisher-Price Read With Me DVD player.

A new generation of musical toys like Zizzle's IZ and Hasbro's IDog have emerged this year. Right now, these cute toys are more of a status symbol - they really don't have too much functionality. The coming year may see them evolve into something more advanced.

When speaking of electronic toys, Wow Wee's Roboraptor comes to mind. This robotic toy is great to play with, and have around, though not as interesting as last year's Robosapien. Tech toy fans, look out for an updated version of the Robosapien, the Robosapien V2. The Robosapien V2 has grown 10" over last year's version, can pick up, throw objects, sit, twist from side to side, bend, lie down and stand up. Another addition is that the Robosapien can now "talk"! That's something to look forward to indeed.

Kid's digital cameras featuring licensed characters have been around for a while. MGA's Bratz, Disney Princess, Batman and more have come out with digital cameras easy enough (and easy on the pockets too!) for the young camera aficionados. Next in line are kid's digital video cameras. Hasbro has come out with it's VCam Now, a portable digital video camera targeted towards the tween market. Tweens can take video movies and still digital pictures with the camera, or even use it as a webcam. They can view them on a regular TV. Pics and clips can be easily shared via the net.

I'm sure that we can expect to see some real stunners in the electronic toy market in 2006. A preview of what to expect - a new line of robotics called Wow Wee's Alive. The first animal in the ALIVE line is a life sized, fully articulated bust of a chimpanzee. The chimp is so realistic that he's scary! Able to make movements and sounds just like a real chimp, this sophisticated piece of work is slated to become available at a steep price of course!
