To commemorate Tickle Me Elmo's 10th birthday, Mattel has decided to bring out a new incarnation called (somewhat mysteriously) T.M.X. Unfortunately at this point, nothing much is known about the new ELMO, except for the fact that he will be more expensive than the regular ELMO which retails for around $30. According to an article by USA Today featured in Marion Star, "The only available image of the red phenomenon features him in silhouette, in a haze, giving off a "Tenth Coming of Elmo" aura." Toy execs who viewed the Elmo video had to sign a confidentiality agreement!
Is the new TMX going to be one of the hot holiday toys of 2006? It's too early to say. Anyway, Happy 10th Birthday Tickle Me Elmo, and here's hoping that a new toy sensation is recreated this year!
