Magnetic toys have been very much in the news of late. There have been several incidents in the recent past which have led to the recall of the magnetic building sets like Mega Brand's Magnetix. Many times, the small magnets can come loose and be ingested by kids, causing injuries, and even one death. CSPC and Mega Brands have expanded the recall of all Magnetix building sets except the ones sold after March 31, 2006 which are the newer sets age labeled "6+". According to Mega Brands, the newer sets are built with a superior material and better design, which retain magnets better. However, if as parents, you do not feel comfortable with your child playing with Magnetix toys, you can call Mega Brands at 800-779-7122 for a replacement toy.

I think your article is a little incorrect. There is no expansion of the recall. The same sets as before are recalled, but people can still trade them in to the company.

I saw your information, and the comment left earlier. I’ve also contacted the company about a magnetix set that we had, and there have not been expanded recalls. They confirmed that the orginal list has not changed and new sets are NOT included in the list to be recalled.
