Teaching children the value of money is always a good idea. When kids start saving and putting away small amounts of money, they appreciate the fact that it takes a long time to save, and just the opposite - a very short time to spend it all! Recently, I came across the Learning Cents Bank, a clever and useful bank which will really go a long way in teaching your kids how to manage their pocket money. The fair sized bank has three compartments - one for "Saving", one for "Spending" and one for "Giving". I liked the idea of having more than one option in this bank - conventional piggy banks have only a saving option as we all know. The spending and giving compartments can be easily opened via the hinged lids, but the savings compartment has an opening at the bottom, hidden from sight. Your kids will enjoy deciding where their pocket money should go - whether it should be saved for a rainy day, or put towards a project they need to budget for, or simply put towards doing a good deed - donating it to someone needy. The plastic bank is attractive, and can be personalized via the alphabet stickers provided. One last thing I need to mention is that there's a handy dry-erase marker included which is great for jotting down notes at the top of each compartment. I can see this being useful to note down how much money there was in the compartment at last count for one thing. All said and done, the Learning Cents Bank is worth every penny - it's a great buy for your children. You can check out the Learning Cents Bank at http://www.learningcents.com.
