R/C Color Bug - Something Worth Checking Out!

From Dipika Mirpuri, About.com GuideMay 29, 2007

Follow me on:

I first heard of the R/C Color Bug at this year's Toy Fair in New York. The idea of a radio controlled drawing insect sounded fascinating to say the least! By and by, the uniqueness of the R/C Color Bug has drawn attention to itself - the product and it's inventor, Gwen Yuffa, were recently featured on Oprah.

So, what does the R/C Color Bug actually do?? Well, you simply have to snap a washable colored marker into the brightly colored little remote controlled ladybug, and use the handy remote to make the little critters move. Watch your tabletop soon become covered with your handiwork! The only thing you need to watch out for is that your kids and the ladybug don't run wild - I mean, I know you appreciate your kid's artwork, but when it's all over your carpet, it's another matter! Apart from this minor inconvenience, I absolutely give the R/C Color Bug two thumbs up for the imaginative idea, and for the great execution of the imaginative idea.

You can check out R/C Color Bug's website at http://www.rcarttoys.com. Oh, and there's also an integrated R/C Color Bug playset going to be available complete with a playpad with slightly raised walls. I guess this will take care of the problem I wrote about earlier by confining the ladybug's movements to within the playpad.

Great product. The reality is – ANY art/craft product will cause a mess. A marker alone will cause the same mess if left in the hands of a small child.

I think this is a fun new concept. Can’t wait to see it on the market.
