Easy Bake Oven Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Hasbro have announced the recall of the Easy Bake Oven models sold between May 2006 and July 2007. The recall is widespread - around 1 million units of the pink plastic toy are being pulled in. The Easy Bake Oven is a very popular classic girls' toy which has been around for years. This shocking recall comes hot on the heels of another big recall of Thomas the Tank toys.
The reason for the recall is that young kids can get their hands or fingers trapped in the front opening of the oven. This is very dangerous as it can cause burns or even something more severe, as in the case of the 5 year old girl who required a partial finger amputation!
Hasbro had previously announced a repair program in February of this year, but since then had received 249 reports of child injuries.
If your Easy Bake Oven is a front loading pink and purple model with "Easy Bake" printed on top and, model number 65805 and "Hasbro" stamped into the plastic on the back of the oven, please contact Easy-Bake at (800) 601-8418, or visit www.easybake.com for instructions on how to return the Easy Bake Oven in exchange for a gift voucher good for another Hasbro purchase.
