In another major recall, Mattel has pulled almost 800,000 toys off the shelves due to the violation of lead paint standard. This time, it's the Barbie accessory toys which make up the bulk of the recall.
Almost 675,000 Barbie accessory toys including various pieces from the Barbie Dream Puppy House playset, the Barbie Dream Kitty Condo playset, Barbie Table and Chairs Kitchen Playset, Barbie Bathtub and Toilet Playset, Barbie Futon and Table Living Room Playset, Barbie Desk and Chair Bedroom Playset, Barbie Couch & Table Living Room Playset have been recalled. It's interesting to note that mostly the dog and cat play pieces and a small number of chip platter and dinner plate pieces are in violation of the lead paint standard.
Fisher-Price has pulled off almost 9,000 units of Big Big World 6-in-1 Bongo Band toys which were sold from between July 2007 through August 2007. The Bongo Band toys consist of 2 yellow and green bongos and various accessories like a monkey, bird, tambourine and drum stick. The surface paints on all of the toys contain excessive levels of lead.
In another announcement, Fisher-Price has recalled 90,000 units of the Geo Trax toys including the Geo Trax Freightway Transport and Geo Trax Special Track Pack locomotive toys. These toys are red in color with yellow paint on the ladder and horn details. They were sold from September 2006 through August 2007 nationwide.

Thanks for this recall info. My kids didn’t have any of the other toys but we did have some of the GeoTrax pieces. I wish Fisher Price would make them in the USA with higher safety standards – I’d be willing to pay more if necessary to ensure my kids have safe GeoTrax train sets!
