My Meebas from Mattel - Another Tamagotchi?
Thursday August 28, 2008
My Meebas is a new concept from Mattel which is aimed towards the younger set of kids. It's a mixture of several things like a virtual pet, games and activities and finally a real plush toy which is the ultimate "reward" that kids get for "looking after" their virtual pet so well. Some say that it is loosely based on the Tamagotchi from Bandai America, which I am inclined to agree with. Having played with My Meebas, I do see some potential of kids liking it because of it's friendly nature. But I can imagine that the ending would be bittersweet for me when the plush toy pops out (it hasn't happened yet). Here's what I felt about My Meebas from Mattel.

My grand daughter just played the meebas and won all the games, and the surprise plush pet did not pop out. She is very aggrivated. And so am I. How long is it suppose to be before it pops out?
My daughter reached the final stage when the batteries went dead, so it reset to the beginning when new batteries were installed. After reaching the final stage again, the toy “crashed” and reset itself. She is too frustrated to play with it anymore (since she’s already spent 20+ hours with no “reward”). It would have been better to just buy a stuffed animal in the beginning.
