Razor Scooter Recall - PowerWing Three-Wheeled Scooters Recalled

Sunday September 28, 2008
The CSPC has issued a voluntary Razor scooter recall specifically targeting the Razor PowerWing Three-Wheeled scooters. Around 103,000 Razor scooters have been affected by this recall. The reason for the Razor scooter recall is that the underside of the foot platform can have sharp edges, thus leading to a laceration hazard to kids who are riding the vehicle.

Reports of injuries like Achilles tendon and ankle lacerations have resulted in the recall being issued. Unfortunately, four of the affected customers have had tendon injuries and three have required stitches.

So, if you own a Razor PowerWing three wheeled scooter in black or silver, please check the product serial number which is at the bottom of the scooter near the front wheel. Any serial numbers beginning with Y708 Y709 Y710 Y711 Y712 Y801 Y802 Y803 Y804 Y805 Y806 Y807 Y808 are included in the current Razor scooter recall.

Your first step should be to take the scooter away from your children. Contact Razor USA, LLC for free replacement foot platforms. The affected scooters have been sold from October of 2007 through September 2008.

For more information, contact Razor USA at (800) 314-9870 or visit the firm’s Web site at www.razor.com/recall
