Bratz DollsThere hasn't been a dull moment in the legal battle between MGA Entertainment and Mattel over the rights to the Bratz line of dolls. It originally began when Mattel sued MGA in 2004, saying that the Bratz dolls were designed by Carter Bryant while he was still working for Mattel.

In a December 2008 ruling, a district court jury banned MGA from making Bratz dolls. However, in a more recent ruling, a federal judge confirmed that the Bratz doll is Mattel's property and that the dolls would remain in production until January of 2010. A federal receiver, Patrick A. Fraioli, Jr, was appointed to take control of the Bratz division of MGA Entertainment.

For the time being, the Bratz dolls are still on the shelves. In the future, Mattel could very well take over the production of the dolls once the legal issues are resolved. It remains to be seen what lies in store for the (in)famous Bratz dolls.
