
Ever since Mattel and Nickelodeon announced in February that they were expanding the popular Dora the Explorer line and unveiling plans for a new Dora aimed at little girls ages 5-8, the anticipation has been intense. Parents and kids alike debated the need for a "new" Dora, even protesting and launching online petitions. Even after Mattel released an image of the new Dora, quelling some concerns, people still wondered what the new doll would look like. And up until now, the doll's appearance has been kept top secret -- those looking for the doll online would only find images of her packaging.
Well the wait is over. She's here.
The new Dora Links Doll (compare prices), went on sale today, with the new website also launching.
The 13-inch doll is the anchor of a new line of toys called Dora's Explorer Girls collection that include dolls of Dora's best friends (Naiya, Emma, Kate and Alana), playsets and accessories. All the products, particularly the Dora Links doll, are closely tied into the online community where girls can solve mysteries and play games.
The Dora Links Doll can be customized on the computer and than transforms on the doll itself. Users can her speech, hair length, eye color and jewelry color. And when the site is updated, the doll will let you know.
