Hasbro Previews New Toys for 2010

From Kristen Ryan, About.com GuideFebruary 13, 2010

Follow me on:

Hasbro had a cold day for their Toy Fair preview event today in New York, but fortunately they had coffee waiting five feet inside the door. They hosted by-invitation-only tours and demonstrated dozens of new toys for 2010. Among my favorites were the following stand-outs:

  • Tonka Garage Ricochet RC Vehicle is a tough-as-nails remote-control vehicle that somewhat resembles a moon rover, with its gigantic wheels. The vehicle flips over while in motion and transforms into two modes: one for rough terrain and another for fast maneuverability. The Ricochet will be available in the fall for around $80.
  • Monopoly Revolution Edition is a special, round Monopoly board designed in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Monopoly franchise. The aesthetic is clean and modern but the gameplay is still familiar. A sign of the times is that players will collect $2 million when they pass go! The Revolution Edition will be available in the fall for around $35.
  • The Weebles' Musical Treehouse is a darling addition for the little guys. A Weeble-sized escalator brings the Weebles up and they slide down from the treehouse over and over. It is recommended for 18 months and up and will be around $30 when it hits the shelves this fall.

That's just three of the more than 7,000 new toys to be announced this week at Toy Fair, so stay tuned!
