Toy Recall - Nirve Sports Chopper Bicycles Recalled

From Kristen Ryan, About.com GuideMay 8, 2010

Follow me on:

Nirve Sports has just announced the recall of three styles of "Chopper" bicycles for kids. The bikes' handlebar stems can crack and break apart, causing a fall hazard. Fortunately the reports have all been about bicycles breaking during assembly, so there have been no injuries.

Unfortunately the bicycles cost $300-600 so it's safe to assume there have been some disappointed kids and some very disappointed parents. The recalled bicycles were manufactured in China.

If you have this recall toy in your home, you should take it away from children immediately. Visit the CPSC website to read more information about this recall and to sign up for free email alerts for future toy recalls. Toys.about.com is also keeping a list of recent toy recalls. I would like to hear what you think about toy recalls. Sound off here!
