Shrinky Dink Cards Make a Nice Valentine's Day Alternative

Follow me on:

Over the next few weeks my kids and I will head to our local drugstore and participate in a very important ritual: the buying of Valentine's Day cards for their classmates. This is not as simple a task as it appears. Because they have to pick the "right" character -- nothing too "babyish." And once we have an box that meets their approvals then it's time for the sorting. Making sure that each person gets a card that is appropriate -- nothing too mushy.

Trust me when I tell you it's quite the process, not adequately summed up in a single paragraph.

In any case, I was pretty excited when I came across the Shrinky Dinks I Heart You Cards craft kit (compare prices) in the store the other day. The kit comes with 12 cards and envelopes, a bunch of craft supplies like ribbon and pencils and Shrinky Dink film so your kids can their own personalized little surprises to go in each Valentine. They are really cute and make a nice alternative to the pre-made, store bought cards that are handed out every year.

The kit is great for kids ages 7 and up and retails for about $16.

Does your child hand out Valentine's Day cards?
