From February 13-16, toy executives, buyers, marketers, members of the press and many other professionals will be descending on New York City for Toy Fair 2011. Put on by the Toy Industry Association, Toy Fair is expected to attract over 25,000 attendees who will view over 100,000 products. Over the next few weeks, we'll take a look at some of which toys are expected to be hot.
If you are wondering what the next big it collectible is going to be, look no further than Squaredy Cats, a new plush line from Gund.
Originally created by Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Monkey Doodle Dandy, the Squaredy Cats are well, square cats, but with big personalities that encourage kids to be themselves. (It appears to be working, the adorable animals have a big following already.)
Each cat has it's own mantra to live by. Some of the nine cats introduced this year include ncluding Cheeri (Not Squared to Show Spirit), Twirl (Not Squared to Dance), Scarlett (Not Squared to Bug You) and Giggles (Not Squared to be Silly).
Marketers are predicting Squaredy Cats will be huge with tween girls and I agree, but honestly, I see them reaching further than that -- appealing to a wider kid audience.
What do you think of Squaredy Cats?
