Growums Offer Kids a Chance to Grow their Own Food

Got a picky eater at home? It's a frustrating stage for sure, one that can cause you as a parent to experience a range of emotions from worry to anger.

There are lots of different strategies for attempting to feed a child who seemingly doesn't want to eat anything, but I find involving them in the food process often goes a long way in making them interested in what is on the plate.

That's why I'm in love with the idea of Growums (manufacturer's site), kits that encourage your kids to get involved in growing their own food from seed. There are six varieties to choose from -Herb Garden, Pizza Garden, Salad Garden, Stir-fry Garden, Taco Garden and Ratatoulle Garden.  The kits are easy to use --  simply plant the coco or peat pellets and care for them like you would with any other plant. Then eat the fruits of your work!

There is also a fun online component where kids can play games and activities to learn more about gardening and healthy eating.

The kits retail for about $10 each and are great for kids ages five and up.
