The CPSC has announced the recall of Excite USA toy helicopters due to a laceration hazard. The plastic blades of the helicopter can detach, causing a risk to whoever is playing with it.
About 24,000 of the toys were sold at Rite Aid stores nationwide from January 2011 through May 2011 for about $7. Three incidents were reported, two to the manufacturer, Excite USA, and one to CPSC.
The recalled Military Copters (model number, #9009935 and UPC 680108044474) have manual rotary starters. They are sold as a unit of two, one tan and one black.
Take this toy away from your child immediately. You can return it to any Rite Aid store for a full refund. For more information, contact Excite USA toll free at (866) 791-4754 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website.
Over the past month, there have been two other toy helicopter recalls, Horizon Hobby and UJ Trading. It's a good idea if your child has this type of toy, to check to see who made it and if it is affected.
It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled toy. Visit the CPSC website to see all of the recall toy pictures, to read more information about this recall and to sign up for free email alerts for future toy recalls.
