I have been a huge fan of LEGO blocks throughout my entire life. I believe they are an iconic toy that transcends generations, at least in my family, because my mother has saved all of my brother's LEGOs for the last 25 years. They are currently assembled and safely stored in storage bins, waiting for my son and any other future grandchildren to play with them in upcoming years. These days, not only does LEGO have popular licenses that include many of the Disney movie themes, but within the past few years, they have created many new family board games that incorporate building with social game play.
Recently LEGO announced the Master Builder Academy (MBA) for children ages 8-12. Through a year long subscription, enthusiasts can learn many of the special techniques that LEGO model designers use.
The first kit, the LEGO MBA Space Designer has been released. For $29.99 builders get all the tools they will need to learn how to build sideways to create three different space themed models. The remaining 5 kits are part of a subscription. One kit is delivered every two months over the course of 10 months. Themes include the Microbuild Designer, Robot Designer, Flight Designer, Creature Designer, and Auto Designer.
Each kit includes an 84-page handbook and the instructions to build 3 different models.
