For those of you with toddlers and preschoolers who love the television Yo Gabba Gabba on Nick Jr., there is a live performance that might actually be coming soon to your neighborhood. Yo Gabba Gabba, with its characters, DJ Lance Rock, Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Plex and Toodee, in all honesty, is a show I always thought was a little bizarre, and never really offered to my son as a choice to watch, until recently. The songs are very uplifting as they encourage kids to get up and dance around, while building in some really cute educational concepts like teaching kids how to be a good friend and even trying some new vegetables. The words are repetitive and simple for kids to begin to commit to their memory.
The live show is about 80 minutes in length (with a 20 minute intermission), and just like the television show, is very action packed with a lot to look at. It started with a huge confetti blast, which my son loved! The clean freak that he is actually tried to pick up all the confetti around us and hand it to me to throw away. Aside from playing some of their most popular tunes from the television show, the live show incorporated a lot of other musical talent with special guests joining the show, such as Biz Markie. My toddler, who in general, is often all over the place sat on my lap completely mesmerized by the whole process. The characters are just as vibrant on stage, as much as they are on screen, which definitely held his attention. The 20 minute intermission was a little tough with a toddler, and though in a way I think I would have preferred a shorter show in a one shot deal, be aware the intermission was prime time for a lot of meltdowns, when you are dealing with young kids who can get a little overstimulated by the process. In general this was a fun event that my family enjoyed together. If you are interested in attending this concert, you can check out the Yo Gabba Gabba Live website here.
