This year there's a HUGE variety of toys to choose from for boys. The success of movies like Incredible Hulk, Indiana Jones, Speed Racer have led to the increase in popularity of boys toys based on characters from these movies. Evergreen boys toy lines like the Transformers, Star Wars, Power Rangers, G.I Joe, Marvel toys are very much in the forefront. Also, toys like robots and dinosaurs are forecasted to be amongst the most popular toys for boys this year. Take a look at the Hot Holiday Toys For Boys for this year. A word of warning though - it's going to be difficult narrowing down your selection!
1. WowWee Tribot Talking Companion
WowWee's newest addition to their line of robots is the Tribot, the robot with three wheels. He's an interesting character, to say the least, with really cool dance moves. I liked the Tribot much better than the Robosapien. The Tribot is a cheery fellow who jokes and makes sounds. There's also a remote control which is pretty handy to control this little guy. The recommended age for the Tribot is 8 and up.
2. Star Wars – the Clone Wars Voice Changer Helmet
Hasbro's Clone Wars' Voice Changer Helmet is a sure hit for Star Wars' fans whether they may be kids or adults. And the success of the Clone Wars TV series is going to add to the craze for toy. One of the biggest features of this toy is the unique voice modulator funtion which can be activated once the helmet is put on. Adjustable head straps allow helmet to fit all head sizes. Aside from the voice modulator, kids can even choose to use signature phrases that are already programmed in the helmet. Meant for ages 4 and higher, although it may be difficult for this helmet to fit a four or even a five year old's head.
3. Power Rangers Mega Mission Helmet
Bandai's Power Rangers Mega Mission Helmet takes role playing as a Power Ranger to the next level for your little kid. Bandai has added extra pizzazz by allowing online interactivity for the first time. Users can now download three minute secret missions of their favorite heroes into the USB drive which is in the helmet. They can then play out this mission while wearing the helmet. The fight and triumph of good over evil can be cemented in your child's mind with this interactive toy. On the other hand, this toy promotes aggressive role-play. If you're fine with this type of role-play, then go ahead and purchase the Power Rangers Mega Mission Helmet which is sure to become a hot favorite of your children. Meant for ages 4 - 10 years.
4. Bakugan Battle Brawlers
SpinMaster's Bakugan line of toys are one of the certified top hits of the year with the craze just intensifying throughout the year. The Bakugan toys are small colored spheres that POP into powerful Bakugan warrior action figures when rolled onto Bakugan gamecards. Kids battle using points, special abilities, the strategic selection of Bakugan, and even a shooting trick or two - it's almost like a modern-age marble. With their guardian Bakugans by their sides, kids over the ages of 6 will have an adventure of a lifetime.
5. Wow Wee FlyTech BladeStar Helicopter
WowWee has a revolutionary remote control helicopter in the form of the FlyTech Bladestar made for indoor use. One of the special features of this toy is its sensor detection capability so that it avoids obstacles when flying around the indoor area. You can also use the autonomous mode where you can use your hands to guide the helicopter. Another unique feature is the dual band IR system where two Bladestars get into a duel fight where a fire button on the remote controller can take down the other bladestar. Meant for ages 8 and higher.
6. Hasbro LazerTag Multiplayer System
Hasbro's LazerTag Multiplayer System is without doubt as close as it gets to playing laser tag in your local laser tag arenas. Play a real laser tag game but without the costs of a laser tag arena and in the comfort of your home! The game is a complete two-person system where more can join in with the purchase of additional lazer guns. Nobody to play with? No problem, Hasbro has a single player mode where you can use the included video-game attachment and play on screen. Meant for ages 8 and up.
7. Oregon Scientific ATC 3K Camera
The new and improved ATC3K all terrain camera is a great gadget to pick up if you're the sporty type. You can attach it to your bike or car and shoot on the go. You can even go underwater upto 10 feet with this camera, which I haven't tried as yet. The picture quality is pretty decent, but I had some trouble with the sound not being so clear. However, you can capture some interesting moments from a totally different perspective with the ATC3K camera.
8. Hasbro Nerf N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Blaster
Hasbro has made pretend war games seem even more real with the Nerf N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Blaster with authentic machine gun action. The belt feeds automatically through the gun for a continuous loading action. The darts are one of the safest ones available in the dart gun category. This toy is meant for ages 8 and up.
9. Playmobil Pirate Ship
Pirate Ships are one of the hottest toys for boys this year. However, Playmobil's Pirate Ship is just one of the most detailed and one of the best quality pirate ships available today. The extra number of features include: cabin, working anchor winch, functional loading crane, and a space for treasure. To add to the excitement, the ship floats and if not playing in water, it even drives on rollers. Playmobil also offers an optional underwater motor for added water excitement. Meant for ages 4 and up.
10. 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime Action Figure
The hottest holiday boys' toy list would be incomplete without the The Transformers. This year, the famous Transformers are celebrating their 25th Anniversary. This Optimus Prime action figure is a special release for the 2008 holiday season. It's a perfect replica of the original Autobot Commander Optimus Prime figure back from 1984. It also includes the classic trailer which converts into a roller vehicle, combat deck, vintage accessories and much more. A must have for any Transformers fan.
