Color Me Gemz

My daughter was so excited when she first saw the Color Me Gemz kit that I received in the mail. She couldn't wait to try out the novel looking markers and create the jeweled toned effect that was shown in the pictures. I must admit, she did have a good time coloring all the little pieces and sticking them all over the place! I did like the end effect of the Color Me Gemz which was pleasing to the eye, but it could have been better. My biggest gripe with this product is that the markers weren't able to color the little grooves within the gems properly - the colors just weren't strong enough.

Fisher-Price had a star-laden launch for their Color Me Gemz line of toys with none other than the Cheetah Girls star Sabrina Bryan. The concept of Color Me Gemz is a pretty good one, if I may say so. There are a lot of little pieces shaped like hearts, flowers and other shapes that will appeal to little girls. All these pieces are self-adhesive, a fact that I really liked because it's literally mess free. Along with the pieces, there are a few jeweled toned markers included which can be used to color the little grooves within the little gemz. The overall effect Fisher-Price is aiming for is that of sparkling gems.

The Color Me Gemz can be stuck onto various places like belts, purses, hats and even cell phones. They are pretty eye catching and are sure to appeal to girls who like arts and crafts and sparkly things.

While I loved the concept and execution of the Color Me Gemz, I was disappointed with the color obtained from the markers. They just weren't deep/bright enough. If that can be fixed, then the whole "sparkling gemz" effect will come into play much more than what it is right now.

That said, Color Me Gemz is a pretty neat concept. It's a nice gift to give someone who likes arts and crafts. I found it a great way to keep little girls busy and happily occupied.
