There are 3 workbooks, a basic yellow, an intermediate red and an advanced blue level. Kids start from the yellow workbook which teaches them how to draw vertical lines, horizontal lines and curved lines. As they go along the level, stickers can be placed next to the appropriate places on the colorful progress reports included. So, if your kid masters how to draw vertical lines, he/she will be rewarded with a sticker in the appropriate spot. Once they've finished a level, they move on to the next. The Red workbook is meant to teach kids how to print the uppercase letters, and the Blue workbook, the lowercase letters. Along with the workbooks, fun activity kits are also included for each of the levels. These include entertaining and challenging activities which kids can complete on their own once they've mastered any level, including creating their own postcards, invites, greeting cards and more to show off their newly acquired skills!
A word of advice: Get this kit only when your child is fully ready to learn how to write. If you start too young, loss of interest may result halfway through, and the concept will not work.
All things considered, the Hooked on Handwriting Learn to Print kit is a good concept, nicely executed, and will help your child to pick up handwriting if you closely monitor and encourage the learning process.
