Guide Review - Volcano Madness Science Kit from Young Scientists Club
I was pleased with the fact that the kit includes stuff like goggles, test tubes, a test tube holder, measuring cups etc., which actually make you feel that you are in a real science laboratory. However, the actual experiments that you can do with the Volcano Madness science kit disappointed me because they are pretty limited. The basic theme of the science kit revolves around mixing various common household chemicals like vinegar, baking soda and others to simulate a volcanic like explosion. The plus side is that the mess making abilities of this volcano making kit are pretty limited, if you stick to the instructions. Since mostly everything used in the kit is found at home, it's pretty safe for kids to do. Clean-up is easy too!
However, to be fair, the Volcano Madness Science kit is thoughtfully designed, with an instruction booklet providing interesting scientific facts about volcanoes and associated details. I was impressed that this kit aims to provide an all-round experience to your child, and doesn't only concentrate on the end result. For example, the kit includes some paints and a brush so that you can first paint your volcano mountain before you actually set it up.
At an MSRP of $14.99, the Volcano Madness science kit provides a few hours of entertainment, education and, most importantly, aims to develop scientific thinking in your child.
