Many children enjoy physical exercise, whether indoors or outdoors, and family fitness is important. There are a variety of different kids bikes that include ride on toys, balance bikes, and scooters for kids of all ages. Ride-on toys are geared for the toddler age group, and allow children to ride a sturdy bike propelling it with their feet. Balance bikes are for older preschool aged children who are learning to shift their weight in preparation for a pedal bike. Aside from traditional bikes there are many different bikes that are also propelled using hand movements, and do not rely on leg strength alone. Scooters are maneuvered using a child's feet while standing upright. This list includes some unique and cool bikes for kids ages 1 through pre-teen ages. Many of these bikes also hold enough weight for adults to ride them as well. This list is 2 pages, and most of the bikes for older children will appear on the second page. It is recommended that children enjoy ride-on toys and bikes while wearing a protective helmet and with adult supervision.
1. HABA Moover Dump Truck
This unique ride-on toy, recommended for kids ages 12 months and up, allows them to move the bike forward with their feet, while they steer using their hands. Double tires, provide a non-skid grip. As children get older, they are able to take apart the dump truck, further enhancing their fine motor and construction skills.
3. SmartTrike 3-in-1 Tricycle
The SmartTrike allows parents to sit a 10-month-old baby in the seat with a support harness, while pushing the bike from behind by the long handle. As the child grows taller and gains the ability to place their feet on the pedals, the back handle can be removed and this bike transforms into a tricycle. There is a basket in the back for storage and a UV sun canopy.
4. Playskool Poppin Park Bounce n' Ride
Recommended for kids ages 12 months and up, babies can sit on the bike and bounce up and down in a stationary mode, as well as push the bike forward and back with their feet as a ride-on toy. The Bounce n' Ride is great for both indoor and outdoor riding. The bike plays music as your child rides and bounces with the 2 included "AA" batteries. An air pump is also included.
5. MegaBloks CAT 3-in-1 Dump Truck
Recommended for kids ages 10 months and up, this is also a 3-in-1 ride-on toy that starts as a push toy for new walkers, but is also a ride-on toy, and a large dump truck for older children. There are interactive horns and buttons on the steering wheel. Mega Bloks maxi blocks are also included where children can transport, build and stack blocks right in the back of the truck.
7. YBIKE Pewi
This bike is one of my absolute favorite indoor bikes for toddlers. It has caster wheels that allow kids to turn very fast and quickly, and it is unbelievably quiet on hardwood floors. The Pewi is recommended for beginning walkers as a push-toy, but is a fast ride-on toy for toddlers and preschoolers. It is recommended for kids ages 12 months-36 months, or a weight limit of 44 lbs.
8. YBIKE
Recommended for kids ages 2-4, this is a plastic balance bike. Children sit on the seat and begin to develop their balance while steering the bike as they shift their weight from side to side. Maximum weight limit is 100 lbs.
