Guide Review - ChixOs Design-a-Luxury Loft
ChixOs uses PixOs, popular tiny, plastic beads that stick together with water, to design and decorate a luxury loft for three ChixOs dolls. The set comes with the plastic loft, three dolls, furniture and accessories plus 300 colorful PixOs beads. There's even a tiny toilet.
The furniture works as templates for other pieces. Use the footstool to make a bath mat by laying out the beads in a pattern then spraying them with the included spray bottle. Dolls heads, bodies and outfits stick together with water, too, but it takes an hour for the sticky plastic creations to dry.
A cute glitter shower comes with powder-fine glitter. Just put in the wet, sticky doll and pump the shower to make her all sparkly. It is decidedly un-messy and washed off my hands easily, which was nice. Part of this job is sometimes being very sparkly in public.
Though ChixOs says it's for children ages 4 and up, my 4-year-old was unable to grasp the tiny beads and lay them out. I also question the fun factor when kids have to wait over an hour for their creations to dry. I made a stunning bath mat and it was still sticky 90 minutes later.
One thing that really bugged me about ChixOs Design-a-Luxury Loft is that it includes a pattern for a drink in a martini glass. Sure, you can say they're drinking pomegranate juice, but it doesn't need to look like a cocktail when you're 4. Call me old fashioned. I can live with that.
