1. For the Baby
2. For the Little Kid
Munchkin Star Fountain
I named this toy to my top 10 holiday toy list! It's a cute fountain for the tub and babies, toddlers and small kids all love it. It sprays water about 18 inches high and a blue light flashes while it spins and bobs in the tub. The Star Fountain is about $10.
3. For Mom
Oh Plah Bracelet
This cute, new bracelet is made from eco-friendly, (No BPA, phthalates or PVC) rubbery plastic and comes in several colors. It's designed for moms to wear then hand to their babies to chew on. The name, Oh Plah is French for "Here You Go," as in, "Here you go, Baby. Take the one thing that makes me look put together and put it in your mouth!" Sure beats those filthy car keys, though! The bracelets are about $20.
4. For Dad
Hexbugs Nano
For all the bugs Dad's exterminated this year, give him one he won't want to throw out the back door. New Hexbug Nanos are creepy, crawly little inch-and-a-half long, vibrating bugs. They really behave like cockroaches but their bright colors and cute circuit-board pattern make them almost lovable. We gave one to my husband to play with while he's on long conference calls. Hexbug Nanos are about $10.
5. For the Music Lover
Headphonies
Headphonies are fun, little characters that look cute on your desk. When you plug them in they turn into handy little speakers for your laptop or mp3 player. They come in six unique patterns plus a plain white one you can decorate. Headphonies are our most expensive stocking stuffer at $25.
6. For the Fashionista
Fashionplaytes.com Gift Card
Girls can go to www.fashionplaytes.com and design their own clothes online. They choose the garment, the color and all the trimmings. Then they order it in their size! Gift cards can be in any denomination but they'd need $20 or $25 to get an embellished top.
7. For the Surly Tween
Hershey's Miniatures Memory Sticks
These cute, USB storage devices disguised as candy bars come in 1GB and 2GB capacities and they're a fun way to add personality to file sharing. They come in Hershey's Chocolate bar, Krackel, Mr. Goodbar, Twizzlers and Bubble Yum versions. Chocolate can make anyone feel better! I totally want one but I'm afraid I'd want the whole bag. The 1GB size is about $15.
8. For the Budding Artist
Crayola Crayons
Let's get back to basics. Who doesn't love a fresh box of 64 Crayola Crayons? They sell for about $5 and they still have the sharpener in the back, but now there's a cool, high-tech twist. Inside the lid of marked boxes of 64 crayons is a code for Crayola's new Lights, Camera, Color service. You can upload family photos, add borders and decorate them, then the software strips out the color so you can print out cool coloring pages. The family coloring books would also make great stocking stuffers, and they're free!
9. For the Skateboarder
Slingz
Slingz is a new invention for kids who ride scooters or skateboards. Sometimes they simply can't ride because the terrain isn't suitable or riding is prohibited, but it's a pain to carry the board around. With Slingz, kids simply loop the straps over two wheels and carry the board like a backpack. Works with scooters, too! Plus, it comes in pink if there's a female rider on your list. Slingz are about $10.
10. For the Little Girl
Cahootie
Remember folding paper and penciling in boys' names, numbers of children and occupations to make a fortune-telling game called Cahootie? Now several versions of Cahootie, each with a clever theme, are made from durable, coated paper and include 40 reusable stickers that make the game come out differently each time kids play. Parents and kids can play together and use the game as a great conversation starter. The "Would You" version ponders deep questions like, "Would you rather take a cold shower or wash your hair with peanut butter?"
11. For the Little Boy
Disney Pixar's Lenticular Cars
Disney's Lenticular Cars are my son's favorite toys. The heavy, metal cars are each modeled after the popular characters from the movie Cars and their eyes blink when you tilt them. They're slightly larger than most die-cast cars and they put up with constant play without complaint. They cost about $4 apiece, which makes them a nice stocking stuffer.
