Toy Fair, the four-day toy show in New York, is just a couple of weeks away and I'm hearing from dozens of exhibiting toy companies about their hot, new toys for 2010. While there will be thousands of new toys to play with at the show, a few news announcements have already caught my eye.
- Disney and Pixar are hosting a special preview event for Toy Story 3. They will premiere the movie trailer and unveil the Toy Story 3 toys. I understand that Toy Story characters will be there (in the flesh!) for a meet and greet. That Buzz Lightyear makes my heart go pit-a-pat.
- The Vermont Teddy Bear Company will be showing at Toy Fair for the first time in its nearly 30-year history! Those little bears are in for a shock, especially if they've never spent their days getting hugged by thousands of Toy Fair attendees!
- Gund's huggable bear, Snuffles will celebrate his 30th birthday this year with the largest Snuffles ever made, plus a special, one-of-a-kind Snuffles worth nearly $10,000. I haven't gotten a look at him yet, but it totally makes me think of Victoria's Secret's diamond-encrusted bra!
- Razor Scooters have been around for 10 years now, and this year they're announcing yo-yos! They're billed as high-end, pro-quality yo-yos that are expected to usher in a comeback for the yo-yo trend. I'll let you know what I think after I go "walk the dog" with the Razor folks.
Unfortunately all Toy Fair events are only open to industry professionals, and they mean it. Don't forget to chime in and let me know what you want me to check out at Toy Fair!
