The first story, Swimmy, is about a little fish in the ocean. This animated story will be well remembered by most parents, back from the days when they were kids! The story illustrates how Swimmy survives the dangers of being a little fish in a big pond. This story teaches little kids about unity and togetherness as well as introduces the concept of helping others.
The video contains many more classic Leo Lionni stories on fish, frogs & more, all of them with a message for the little kids. I'm not going to spoil the fun by elaborating, watch the videos!
Unlike today's cartoon shows which purely rely on rapidly changing images with lots of noise and action, these videos are a welcome change and are more suited for the young ones. Children absorb information like a sponge, and it is the parent's responsibility to limit their viewing to good, clean entertainment with lots of educational value. This is precisely what Scholastic Video aims to do.
On the flip side, some parents may find the pace of the videos slow. Older kids may not be as interested in these videos, preferring instead more challenging viewing. Kids may not want to watch this video too many times, as the storylines are too simple, and easily remembered.
However, Swimmy is an excellent video to start out with, or to add to your Scholastic Collection.
