Guide Review - The Picture Book Dictionary - English-Spanish Dictionary from Ekadoo Publishers
Key words are listed alphabetically in English and their Spanish translations are given alongside. Illustrations and sentences incorporating these key words follow. This is the basic content (teaching method) of this book.
A basic knowledge of English and Spanish is essential in order to use this book. The reason for this being that although the meanings of key words are given, a word by word translation of the sentences is not provided. Also, while a number of English verbs with their past tense and past participle are listed, the same is not listed for Spanish verbs.
The illustrations in this book are wonderful and comprehensive. Children with basic knowledge of the languages will find it easy to grasp the content of the text with the help of the pictures. A wide range of situations which children encounter in their daily life are also covered. However, some of the sentences may be too advanced for younger children to grasp.
A glossary of English to Spanish translations of words other than the key words in the book which is essential in any language tutorial is unfortunately not provided.
This book is recommended for bilingual families with a basic knowledge of both English and Spanish who wish to improve their language skills. It is easy to read and understand and will hold the interest of children.
