Publication International’s Story Reader is a permanent fixture in our top toy lists. It gets more popular every year with the introduction of new titles. The Disney Classics 4-book Collector’s Edition Story Reader includes 4 Disney Classics stories - Toy Story 2, Pinocchio, The Jungle Book, and The Lion King. Based on a very simple yet effective concept, the Story Reader is very easy to operate. A spiral bound book fits into the slots inside. Simply turn the pages of the book, and an internal detection mechanism triggers off the electronic voice which starts to read. Following the success of last year's I Can Play Piano, Mattel has brought out the new I Can Play Guitar. It's based on the same lines as the piano toy, but of course, with guitar related features instead. Also, it's a whole lot more instructional because of the way it's designed, with 4 levels of progressive difficulty. You have to plug the I Can Play Guitar into your TV, and follow the easy to do activities. The frets are color coded, and the software guides you through the process, teaching you basic guitaring skills like strumming and chords. In fact, after trying out all the features, I liked it far better than the I Can Play Piano!
Wow! This was my reaction when I first saw the Playmobil Grande Mansion. It's very nicely sized, with 5 rooms and a balcony. The quality of this set is comparable to the other Playmobil sets, which is generally excellent. Youngsters will have a great time playing with their dolls for hours in this wonderful mansion. The price is a little steep for a toy, but this is something that your child will play with for a while.
Did I hear you say that there's something better than Etch A Sketch? Yes, the Wired Etch A Sketch from Ohio Art is a cut above the traditional version. With wires that connect to your TV, the Wired Etch A Sketch allows your child to turn the entire TV into a huge screen to draw on. Simply shake the unit, and the screen clears, just like the original.
The VSmile Pocket Learning System is a great handheld unit which can connect to your TV. The system works with the original VSmile Cartridges that were used with the VSmile TV Learning System. The advantage of the Pocket version is that it can be taken anywhere, on the road, to a game or to a friend's house. Your child will enjoy playing the educational games and learning at the same time.
